Front Sight Mail Bag: Response to Free Gun Training Report – Hierarchy of Comfort
July 29th, 2009
Dr. Piazza ,
I grew up with a .22 “Squirrel Gun” of my fathers, starting from the age of 6 years. Now I’m 50 & have been a Life Member of the NRA since the 1980s and been involved in hunts and clubs along the way. I reload custom cartridges and have been comfortable utilizing almost any firearm as the tool it is for the intended purpose at hand.
Your offering of training was interesting at first, then raised my awareness to the FACT that there are many possible situations which I have not encountered or even considered the occurrence of.
The “Hierarchy of Comfort” is an eye opener that my skills have gone practically unused and there is a reassuring tone to your message of self comfort with the enhancement of self awareness without the possibility of momentary hesitation that could change the outcome of any questionable situation that might arise in this increasingly tense society.
I know that my 6’4″ height & 230 lbs. no longer register “strength” as it once did with the mindless attitude of others bent on taking what they want at almost any cost. The level of “Comfort” should be maintained with a sharp edge, just as any other “tool”, and your awareness & offer to fill this need is well appreciated, received and contemplated as a serious step toward my future as a steadfast supporter of the American way of life.
I look forward to learning of more of the works you have compiled and offered to others like myself.
Thank you;
Dr. Michael M.
