Response from Church Employee to Gun Training Offer for Churches

Dr. Piazza,

I am a full-time employee of a church here in RI. As Facility Manager, my job also encompasses building security. We have established a safety team here for Sunday morning services to help with response issues that may arrise. Much for the same reason you are making this offer, it is due to the evident and previlent increase in attacks in churches. Though as Christians we are truly to live in peace as much as we are able (Romans 12:18), I am not of the mind that we as Christians are to be a welcoming mat for people to wipe their feet on. Turning the other cheek does not mean to not protect yourself if placed in the position where the need to do so is there. Your offer for the churches is another credit to your company and personal character.
