Front Sight Mail Bag: Californian Home Security Concerns
February 26th, 2010
Dr. Piazza,
Thanks so much for the free newsletters.
My wife and I have been growing more and more concerned these past years over the quality and reliability of our safety inside of our home. As you know in our state of California, as well as our county of Santa Barbara, budget cutbacks have impacted jail and prison terms, leading to early releases and reduced sentences to probation only for many offenses. Even though our sheriff claims that early releases are targeted to non-violent offenders only, we all know that a desperate drug addict burglarizing a home to finance his habit can easily turn into a violent affair when confronting the awakened homeowner. Along with the overcrowding of the jails locally, putting more criminals back out on the streets who are being shown by the government that their crimes will go virtually unpunished, all places the law-abiding citizen into a position to take more responsibility in self protection.
My grandfather took me hunting for birds and larger game through my early twenties. I inherited his pistols and rifles, but have never been taught defensive firearms techniques. Also, they are not defensive type firearms, but are meant for hunting and target shooting only. By coincidence a few weeks ago, my wife was talking to a fellow teacher where she works and was told about your school and facility, which she showered with praises. I went over you entire website and realized it was something my wife and I wanted to try out.
It is not a question of “if” but only a question of “when” we can make it out to you facility to our first course. I am eager about the opportunity and look forward to becoming confident and secure with the new and exciting knowledge and skill your can provide.
Regards,
Vincent R.
